Cliff Hawkins
Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist from the Oxford training course in 1989, I have spent most of the 30 years since then working with people with learning disabilities. I have worked as a Lecturer at two different centres of excellence in this field: the University of Kent (when Jim Mansell was Professor) and the Institute of Psychiatry, carrying out clinical work at the Maudsley and Bethlem Royal Hospitals.
I have worked all over the UK, with a wide range of NHS, voluntary and independent organisations. I have worked as a Trainer with the British Institute of Learning Disabilities and as a Professional Advisor with the Challenging Behaviour Foundation (CBF) and with Communicourt. I have been a Trustee of three different charities: BILD, the CBF and Taking Part.
I have been an Expert Witness many times and am accredited by the Cardiff University Law School as a Civil, Criminal and Family Law Expert Witness.
As well as being employed for many years as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the NHS (becoming an NHS Trust Professional Lead for Psychological Therapists), I have been a Partner in the management consultancy Organisation Resource Limited (working in the UK and the US) and have an MBA. Thus, I have an in-depth understanding of organisational issues across a wide range of industries.
