Dr Rachel Dunn

I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The University of Oxford in 2006.  Since then I have worked within the NHS and independently with adults, children, families and paid carers.  I have worked within physical health care settings and with children and adults with learning disabilities, in inpatient and community settings. Currently I am employed in an NHS Adult Community Learning Disability Team and work independently with women who have been diagnosed with mental health issues such as psychosis and personality disorders.  I specialise in working with women who have experienced difficult or traumatic experiences. I have particular training and expertise in Narrative Therapy and am also experienced in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Positive Behaviour Support.  I enjoy using creative approaches to help people tell their stories in ways that increase their sense of personal agency. I am experienced in both individual and group work.  For example, I am skilled at facilitating groups using Narrative Therapy ideas and incorporating components such as mindfulness and other aspects of Third Wave Therapies. I also very much enjoy helping staff teams and family carers understand and support their service users, to enhance everyone’s psychological wellbeing.
